Nice formula with SPF, limited shades (Report Review)
Aug 08, 2011 by writergirl.m
Consumer rating: (4)
It seems like every time I turn around, there's a different drugstore makeup company announcing a new type of anti-aging makeup. Revlon Age Defying with Botafirm has been around for a little while, but it's a very nice formula that holds up well against some of the newer, fancier competition.
First off, this is an anti-aging makeup with SPF. You'd think that it would be common sense to include SPF in all makeup nowadays--after all, preventing sun damage is one of the easiest ways to preserve a younger-looking face--but some makeup lines still haven't caught on.
Luckily, this formula has SPF 15, so while you're treating the signs of aging, you can prevent further damage. It's be nice if the SPF rating were a little higher, but I'll take what I can get.
The Botafirm makeup also comes in two different varieties: one for dry skin and one for combo/oily skin. The variety I tried, meant for dry skin, feels very moisturizing.
This makeup is meant to firm up your fine lines and wrinkles and generally make skin appear more youthful, and it seems to do a good job of that. It's very blendable and doesn't look cakey or chalky, even after a few hours.
But like many drugstore foundations, it's only available in light or medium shades. No darker shades for the darker-skinned gals? Revlon offers several very dark shades as part of their Colorstay foundation line, so I'm a little disappointed to find the usual limited color range in this Botafirm line.
Overall, a very nice moisturizing foundation that's great for anyone starting to see those fine lines creeping in. Nice to see the SPF included to head off further damage. Now, if we can just get a wider range of shades!
