Nice mascara, just not as 'wow' as the ads make it out to be (Report Review)

I actually saw the ads for the Cover Girl Eyelights makeup for quite some time, but never purchased any. My mom bought me a tube of the mascara for hazel eyes after she tried it and decided she really liked it.
Out of all the drugstore mascaras I've ever tried, I have to say, this may just be the one that produces the most natural lash effect. You don't get crazy-long length, super thick volume, or an ultra-black tint. While gals who want all of the above might be disappointed, I thought it was pretty nice to finally find a mascara that gave me a natural, understated look appropriate for day time wear.
There are four colors to choose from, depending on if you have green, blue, hazel, or brown eyes; and another four to pick from that are waterproof. I tried the regular formula, and found it seemed to stay put quite well, so I don't think you'd need the waterproof formula for everyday use.
In the ads, it seems like wearing this mascara (and the accompanying liner and shadow offerings) will make your eye colors really pop. Maybe this is true if you use all three products. Using just the mascara, I didn't see a huge change in my eye color, but I have to admit it was a nice shade that went well with my eye color and skin tone.
I didn't experience any flaking or irritation, and it removed easily with makeup remover. The tube seemed to last a really, really long time--and it didn't clump once, even toward the end of the tube.
I'd say that this mascara isn't as amazing as the ads make it out to be, but it's still very nice and definitely a recommendation among the drugstore mascara offerings.
