Good basic powder, but limited shade range (Report Review)

Loose powder is a great way to control the shine on your face and add a matte finish after you've applied your foundation. However, you need to know a few application tricks in order to use this product, so that the end result is matte, not "dusty".
I've used this product and pressed powder from Maybelline, and there are a couple of reasons this product is better.
First, loose powder is applied with a fluffy brush--not a puff--so it tends to go on more sheer. Swiping on pressed powder can lead to a thick, mask-y effect. Also, probably for the same reason, loose powder seems to be easier to blend--it's simple to buff it on a little at a time around the T-zone, without powdering the rest of your face if you don't need it.
However, if you're going to use loose powder, you need to know how to apply it right. You'll want to buy a good powder brush to go with this product. Also, you need to be very careful to tap off the excess powder before application, or you'll end up with thick splotches of powder on some areas of your face.
I also have to admit that this product isn't as convenient as a pressed powder compact, simply because it's easier to spill and make a mess.
However, if you prefer loose powder to pressed, then this is a pretty nice drugstore variety. It's affordable and does a great job of controlling shine without looking chalky. I would use this product to "set" your makeup if you have oiliness issues and want to head off the inevitable midday shine. I only wish that it came in more shades--like many drugstore makeup brands, Maybelline offers few options for darker-skinned gals.
