I have started using the Americana Stove Top because that is the stove top that is provided in my new apartment. So far, I have been having a multitude of problems with it. Two of the stove tops smoked or steamed when I tried to use them. Seeing all the smoke made me nervous, so I decided to turn them off. I am down to two that actually work. Then I realized that for one of them, the stove top was no longer getting hot. I was trying to boil water, but after ten minutes, I realized that it was never going to get hot. Other than the problems with the smoking and the stove top not getting hot, however, I will say that the stove top gets got pretty quickly. That said, you want to be careful that nothing will boil over. The heat is adjustable on eight levels, with eight being the hottest. You want to be careful when you turn the dial above a four. In addition, I think that the design of the heat controlling dials is not that great. One says front and the other says rear. Yet I always want to associate the left one with the rear when it is in fact the front.
