Good basic concealers at a good price (Report Review)

I have very dark under-eye circles, and nothing seems to cover them. I can't use liquid concealers because they're just too thin--it seems like they disappear without actually covering anything.
Stick concealers work a little better, if they last long enough. Maybelline Cover Sticks come in several flesh-toned shades, as well as in a yellow and a green (more on that later). The yellow is intended to help neutralize the blue-black pigment of under-eye circles, and the flesh-toned shades go on top.
Straight out of the tube and applied with my fingers, the stick provided medium coverage. I'm torn on whether using the yellow honestly helps or not; while it does help with the dark shadows, I think that if you had darker skin it would probably give you a bit of a reverse raccoon eye effect, just because it's so light. (I have light-medium skin.)
This formula is thick enough that you can aply it with a small concealer brush for better coverage. Other stick concealers are sometimes too creamy to do this. The downside is that the formula can be a bit drying, so if you have fine lines around your eyes, this might not be the formula for you.
There's also a green corrector that works great for concealing redness around the nose and elsewhere on the face; I also top this one with a flesh-toned stick.
All of the formulas are long-wearing and seem to stay put even in hot weather, when makeup typically melts right off my face. I also have to say I like how cheap these are--some stores carry them for about $5--so you can buy a couple of different flesh-toned shades, plus the yellow and green shades, and have a full concealer palette for a relatively affordable price.
